Account Registration: When you purchase a Lifetime Membership, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password.
Profile Data: We collect detailed information about your lifestyle to facilitate accurate matching. This includes gender, age range, cleanliness habits, sleep schedules, smoking/drinking preferences, pet ownership, and housing needs.
Verification Data: To obtain "Verified Status," you may provide government-issued ID documents (e.g., driver’s license, passport) and biometric data (e.g., a selfie). Note: Sensitive ID images and biometric data are processed directly by our third-party identity verification partners and are not stored on CohabiSafe servers.
Payment Information: We do not store full credit card numbers. All transactions (Membership fees and Background Check fees) are processed by third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe).

B. Information from Third Parties

Background Checks: If you initiate a Background Verification, we receive a report from a Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA). This report may include criminal history, eviction records, and sex offender registry status. We use this data solely to determine your eligibility for "Verified Status" on our platform.

C. Automatically Collected Data

We automatically collect certain information when you visit the Site, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and interaction data (e.g., profiles viewed).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Facilitate Matching: Our algorithms analyze your Profile Data to suggest compatible roommates or tenants.
Verify Safety: We use Background Check results to grant or revoke "Verified Status."
Process Transactions: To manage your Lifetime Membership and recurring Background Verification payments.
Communication: To send you match alerts, account updates, and administrative notices.
Legal Compliance: To comply with the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in the following situations:

A. With Other Users

Your public profile (First Name, Age, Lifestyle Preferences, and Verification Badge) is visible to other members of the CohabiSafe network. We do not publicly display your last name, exact address, email, phone number, or specific background check details.

B. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with vendors who perform services on our behalf, including:

Identity & Background Checks: Providers such as Checkr or Certn.
Payment Processing: Providers such as Stripe.
Hosting & Analytics: Providers such as AWS or Google Analytics.

C. Legal Obligations

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or subpoena), or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Background Checks & FCRA Compliance

CohabiSafe is not a Consumer Reporting Agency. We utilize third-party CRAs to compile background reports.

Authorization: You must provide explicit consent before a background check is run.
Retention: Background verification statuses are valid for 365 days. After this period, we may retain the result (Pass/Fail) for record-keeping, but you will be required to authorize a new check to maintain Verified Status.
Disputes: If you believe a background report is inaccurate, you must contact the third-party CRA directly to dispute the information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your Lifetime Membership is active. You may request account deletion at any time. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal identifiers from our active databases, though some transactional data may be retained for accounting and legal purposes.

6. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is strictly for individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will delete that information immediately.
